Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026
Ersha ("we", "us") makes the Ersha mobile app and website for farmers. This policy explains what data we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you can delete it.
Information we collect
Account information. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. If you use Sign in with Apple on iPhone, we receive the name you choose to share and either your email address or, if you pick Hide My Email, a private relay address that Apple forwards to you. If you sign in with a passwordless email link instead, we only receive your email address. You may also add your organization name and phone number in your profile.
Farm and field data. The names, GPS coordinates, and drawn boundaries of the farms and fields you add, and the seasons, activities, tasks, and harvests you record for them.
Soil data.If you use the 8-in-1 wired soil sensor, its readings (temperature, moisture, electrical conductivity, salinity, pH, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium), the sensor's serial number, and the GPS location of each reading. On the website you can also enter results from a soil laboratory or another meter.
Crop diagnosis photos. Photos you take or upload to diagnose a crop disease, and the resulting diagnosis.
Approximate location for weather.Your farm's coordinates (rounded to roughly 1 kilometer) are used to fetch a weather forecast from our weather data provider, without any account information attached.
Subscription and payment records. If you subscribe to Ersha Pro, we keep the plan, the amount, the payment reference, and the dates your subscription starts and ends. Card, bank, and mobile-money details are entered on our payment provider's page and never reach us.
Notification token. If you allow notifications, your phone gives us a token that lets us send it farm warnings and, if you choose, news and tips. It is removed when you sign out.
Crash and diagnostic data. If the app crashes, we automatically receive a crash report (device model, OS version, and the crash trace) through Firebase Crashlytics.
Usage analytics. We record which screens you open and a small number of actions (signing in, creating a farm, running a disease check, starting a subscription) through Google Analytics for Firebase, so we can see which parts of Ersha are useful and which are not. Events are tied to your account identifier, never to your name, email, or phone number, and the contents of your farm records are never included.
Guest mode. You can use most of the Ersha app without an account. In guest mode, your data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers. Signing in later can copy that local data into your new account.
How we use your information
- To provide Ersha's features: farm and field management, soil readings, weather forecasts and warnings, crop disease diagnosis, crop insights, reports, and the agronomic reference library.
- To diagnose crop disease, your photo is analyzed by artificial intelligence (AI). We do not use the photo for anything else at that point.
- To prepare a crop insight you ask for, the field's season, activities, tasks, and soil readings are analyzed by AI. Your name and contact details are not included.
- To improve future diagnoses:when a photo is matched to a known plant disease, we may keep a copy of that photo to improve Ersha's diagnosis over time. This copy is not stored with your name, email, or any other account information, and it is not affected by deleting your account (see Delete account & data).
- To process your subscription and show you when it ends.
- To send the notifications you have allowed.
- To detect, fix, and prevent crashes, bugs, and abuse.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising or ad-tracking tools.
- Firebase / Google Cloud (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics, Analytics): our infrastructure provider, hosting all app data.
- Google Sign-In: only if you choose to sign in with your Google account.
- Sign in with Apple: only if you choose to sign in with your Apple ID on iPhone.
- AI service provider: analyzes the crop photos you submit for diagnosis and the field records behind a crop insight you ask for. It processes them on our behalf and does not receive your name or contact details.
- Weather and maps providers: provide forecasts from your farm's approximate coordinates, map imagery, and place search; no account information is sent.
- Chapa: our payment provider, which processes subscription payments. It receives the amount, a payment reference, your account's email address, and whatever you enter on its checkout page.
Your farms, fields, readings, and diagnoses are private to your account. Other Ersha users can never see them.
Data retention and deletion
You can delete specific farms or fields at any time, or delete your entire account from the app's More tab or your profile on the website. Deleting your account removes your sign-in immediately (and, if you used Sign in with Apple, revokes Ersha's access to your Apple ID) and permanently erases your profile, farms, fields, sensor readings, diagnosis history, and uploaded photos within 30 days, except for the anonymized disease-matched training photos described above, and payment records we must keep for accounting and tax purposes. Full steps are on our Delete account & data page.
Security
All data sent between Ersha and our servers is encrypted in transit. Your data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure and is only accessible to your own account, enforced by server-side access rules.
Children
Ersha is built for farmers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
